The Black Keys and Little Joy

    Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone knew of The Black Keys? Which albums are the best?

Worth checking out - very raw blues-rock band, with obvious Hendrix influences, often compared to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The White Stripes. They sound like something from the Dark Ages but they've been around only since 2001. I can't get enough.

Also, I went to see Little Joy on Wednesday night in a really small venue in Camden called Dingwalls. Having heard nothing by them or who they are, I didn't quite know what to expect but my cousin had a spare ticket so I went along. They were just incredible. I enjoyed the gig more than I enjoyed Kings Of Leon. Fab Moretti, the Strokes' drummer is their lead guitarist. They did a few Portuguese acoustic ballads in-between summery rocky songs that had the whole crowd dancing.

Three songs available here for you to check out:

Well, I certainly can't get enough of the Black Keys... I'm addicted! Seriously if you're into raw bluesy rock, similar-ish to the White Stripes but not really, I urge you to give them a listen.

Sadly my favourite album of theirs "The Big Come Up" isn't available on Deezer, but two of their best tracks (from that album) can be found on here:

    Busted: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=FVnBU3tIci8
    The Breaks: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Black+Keys/_/The+Breaks

    A variety of others: http://www.last.fm/music/The+Black+K...r+When+(Side+B)

Can't get enough... and to think this band have been around since 2001 means I've missed out on them for the last 7 years!

Veni Vidi Vici! Cool name or what, the song has a very catchy riff too! Quite raw sounding, I'm getting a taste for raw blues music... moreso than any other at the moment.

    I like, good find! :)

    But I'll post everything again...

Album Link: http://www.deezer.com/#music/album/105035 and worth checking out the following tracks as a basis:

    02. I Got Mine
    09. So He Won't Break
    10. Oceans and Streams

    The Big Come Up

    01. Busted
    04. Countdown
    05. Breaks

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This brings me on to a the next band alphabetically in my iTunes with a similar sound... more rocky, less bluesy, very cool:

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and in particular track 07. Spread Your Love off their self titled album: http://www.deezer.com/#music/album/302842

Since we're on the subject of Hendrix-related work at the moment I thought I'd give this one a bump. Loads of Black Keys stuff above and on YouTube, Spotify etc.
