Dear all,
I have a question about placed return when the race is won...
For example : i bet 1£ placed on a dog and its odd is 4/1...
It's usual to see "Places Paid 1 and 2 @ 1/4 odds"
how to make the calculation ?
is it (4/4)+1 = 2
or (4+1)/4 = 1.25
?
Many thanks for your answers...

4/1 becomes 4/4 which is 2.0
The same as evens

But surely the calculation must take into consideration the amount of runners? Other wise the odds for a place would be the same for 3 or 100 runners and that cant be right??

All Races:
2 - 4 Runners ............ All To win 1 Place
5 - 7 Runners........... 1/4 Odds 2 Places
8 or more Runners .... 1/5 Odds 3 Places
If a Handicap
Less than 12 Runners as above.
12-15 Runners.......... 1/4 Odds 3 Places
16 or more Runners. 1/4 Odds 4 Places

And in the "dogs" example, all races are 6 runners!!!
With each way, the amount of runners is already reflected in the given odds!
