if i was to do one bet with 5 horses (i normally do singles) which would be best out of these lot four-folds, canadian or lucky 31 or anything else you can advise on

Five four-folds is a bit optimistic, I reckon. My preference is always for ten trebles. If you do manage to get four out of five you will have four trebles anyway.

If your not feeling uber-confident about your selections you could do 10 doubles.

Unless your a pro you'll only be paying fo Mr Bookies holiday doing multiples.

If you must give the bookies some money with no hope of a long term profit, do 5 singles and an EW 5-Fold. That way if one comes in you get money, and if they are all placed you get some more :)
