Folks,

I have spent virtually the whole day getting rid of a number of viruses, trojans, adaware and spyware from my computer. The virus hit me yesterday, one of those "Your PC is shutting down in 60 seconds" ones. Had I been more cautious and organised it wouldn't have been nearly as worse.

I'm now downloading a 30-day trial of Panda Antivirus and intend to pay for it in a month. Just shows that good virus protection is required; before I was using Norton but my trial expired and I didn't do anything about it.

They reckon now a computer without up-to-date AV, and a firewall will become infected within 10 minutes.

It is the users responsibilty to ensure they have the correct security, and it is not worth cutting corners to save money. Panda is better than Norton & Mcafee.

As for a firewall Zonelarm is OK, but Norton Firewall is much more secure. Purchase the OEM version for £20 from http://www.savastore.com/watford/Default.asp
