Texting/Calling America

Howdy,

I'd like to know if it's possible to send a text message to a friend in the States. I've got the Samsung E700 (has GPRS) and I'm on o2.

I tried texting using two methods: using +1 followed by the number, and 00 followed by the number, but my friend didn't receive either text.

Can anyone please help me. :D

I send txt all over the World no problemo.

You should be able to send from GPRS/GSM phones no problem.

Your not sending it to a house phone are you?:laugh

When I ring the number it doesn't even ring, just says "Error"

I've tried the following:

+1 ### #######
00 ### #######
01 ### #######
001 ### #######

Not putting spaces in-between either, just demonstrating that the first three hashes are the area code for where she lives.

Oh and another thing, I take it because I'm using a GPRS phone that it's already enabled, I don't need to connect to enable WAP before sending the message do I?

Hi stereo, when I first had a gprs Phone I had to have it activated before I could do international call's (Vodaphone), phoning from abroad to the uk you usually leave out the 0 in the area code rugby is 01788 etc!, so leave out the 0 in the mobile number and give it a try.

Access Code: 011 code to dial out(011 44 for UK)

Keith that's taken from the site which I have right in front of me... does the first bit mean I need 001 before the number?

You dial "+00 1 ********* your number", you usually need to use the "+" sign and no spaces, when txt Singapore its "+0065*****"
