My pc will not let me use either my cd rom or my cd writer. I do not know which models I have. So cannot install any drivers that may be required. How can I get windows to find them and set them up correctly. I am on win98.

Help please.

Drivers are automatic.

Go into Control Panel>System>Hardware and take it off the list and reboot. If that fails unplug the cable & reboot. Plug it in, and reboot.

It may be knackered they don't last forever. You can pick up an 8X DVD DL for £30

Yes I did. Have tried what Keith suggested. I put a disc into both the cd rom or my seperate cd writer, the light flashes and nowt else. When I check the drives it says not avaiable or not ready. The pc nearly went for a swim in the pond last night. My PC in the office is the same, BUT the cd rom on that one is ok, its just the bloody cd writer. So they cant all be knackered, got to be a software fault. Have tried my NERO software to try and find it. NO GOOD.

have you tried typing in the full path to the drive in the "run" command? e.g D:/
