I am sure this has been asked before but here we go again. Anybody know an easy way to dutch a bet. Say prices 7/4 and 7/2 you wanted to stake £50 on the two whats the easiest way to work how much you must put on each to win the same amout if either wins.

And, if you don't want to carry around dutching tables in your head whilst you are out and about, the following is a universal dutching formula:

Two horses ..................

1) Add a full point to the odds of each horse.
2) Devide the new odds into 100
3) The resultant figures are your relevant stakes on each horse to return a set amount immaterial of whichever horse wins.
4) To calculate for a set stake (in your example £50) -- add the two resultant figures from step 2 together and devide the total stake (£50) by this duopoly. Then, multiply each of the two separate figures from step 2 by this devisor.

EXAMPLE:

Two horses --

Horse A ............. 3/1
Horse B .............. 4/1

Steps
1) Horse A becomes 4/1
Horse B becomes 5/1

2) 4 (Horse A) into 100 = 25
5 (Horse B) into 100 = 20

3) So the two bets to win a specific amount irrespective of which horse wins are 25 and 20.
Hence, 25 staked at 3/1 = 75
and 20 staked at 4/1 = 80
Whichever of the two horses wins, you will win 55.

In your example, you wish to stake a total £50. So .......
4) Add 25 and 20 = 45
Devide 45 into 50 = 1.11111111
Multiply 25 and 20 by 1.1111111 = 27.77777 and 22.22222

Stakes will be ~ £27.77 and £22.22 approximately and will win you £61.10 irrespective of whichever horse wins.

Hope this helps.
