Imagine the football World Cup was organised like boxing ie whoever beats the current holder becomes the new champion. Now imagine that England were designated as the first champion as we invented the game.
If we take into account the result of international games played since their inception (including friendlies, home internationals, tournaments and qualifiers)...
1) Who would have been reigning world champion the longest?
2) Who would currently hold the title?
* correct as 31 Mar 2005

Good thread Mat, shame I've got 2 poker schools going or I'd attempt to seek the answers. Might have a go anyway, just slowly.

I went to FIFA and manually went through the results starting with Brazil. Jamaica, Mexico & Angola were involved somewhere along the line.
Heres the page I used, you can do specific searchs by date, ala betfair :laugh

Since Workshy has got number 2 correct I am going to introduce some more on the same topic.
3) Give the top 5 countries in terms of length of reign, in order.
4) Name the 5 previous champions prior to Zimbabwe claiming the title. It will help if you do this in reverse chronological order
5) Who has held the title for the shortest period?
