Congratulations to yesterdays winner - Butterbean.
In the cumulative stakes, Sparky still leads although that may well change after today. Presto and Mathare are still inseparable in the two remaining medal positions while Littlegaz has moved effortlessly into fourth place.

There's some interesting money on the exchanges for fadetoblack though......(Source: She-mail)

Congratulations to yesterdays winner Mathare.
He's now cut Sparky's overall lead down to just 2 points but, as the quiz moves into a heavy metal stage, will he continue to overhaul him?

Even though the subject is Heavy Metal,
do we still not have a variety of topics...
Mine were ALL Rock questions... :yikes:

Mine were about Lead - Copper and Iron :doh

I suppose it depends on what the people setting the quizzes determine as heavy metal. Seeing as most of them are probably American and, over there, anyone with hair longer than their ears lumbering about the stage in a pair of spandex trousers is considered to be heavy metal, then most rock groups would probably fall into that category!
Never mind Vegy, we'll move onto general music next so you'll be able to astound us with your incredible and, dare I say, intimate knowledge of the Backstreet Boys and other assorted boy bands :D

Well done to Fadetoblack, winner of yesterdays general music trivia.
In a topsy-turvy round, we now have a change at the top of the leaderboard. Long-time front-runner Sparky has now slipped to third place as the reins are taken up by Mathare. Fade moves crisply into second place while a complete unknown is in fourth.

Congratulations to Ruby who not only won yesterdays quiz but was the first person to get 10 out of 10.
In the overall standings Mathare still has his nose in front but Fadetoblack is putting in a sustained burst up the inside. Presto and Sparky look as though the distance was too much for them as, ominously, a couple of stayers, Chancer and Littlegaz, are beginning to settle in just behind the leaders waiting for their turn to pounce.

Congratulations to Fadetoblack and Laf who have each won the Daily Quiz in the past two days. Extra rep on its way to them :)
Cumulatively it's wide-open with Mathare still leading the way but things are likely change as this is the last day to show off your knowledge of music before the questions switch to more general trivia.

Dilemma: I am away this weekend so do I wake up extra early to get a go in on the quiz and incur the wrath of my missus for being on the PC when I should be getting ready or do I miss a day and let FTB, Sparky et al back in?

Talking of days - we're now entering the final week and Mathare still has his nose in front. Sparky, Fadetoblack and BigC are galloping alongside but, even during the run-in, the other runners can have a huge influence over the final result.

Have I just been robbed?
A jam and almond pastry named after an English town. I click Bakewell tart only to get it marked as wrong and told Bakewell pudding is the right answer. Nah!
I tried to report a correction but it wouldn't let me log in. Oh well.
TheOldhamWhisper
30th April 2005, 18:41
Sorry mat - that's one of the most common triv 'trick' questions. The Bakewell is actually a 'pudding' and not a tart (I think it was Mr Kipling who coined the Bakewell tart misnomer).
