Blimey that has got me thinking now Ada and I have made a mistake. It is Nigel Lawson isnt it? I always think of Howe resigning as breaking Thatcher but he was Deputy Leader when he resigned not Chancellor. It must be "her brilliant" Chancellor Nigel Lawson that Sir Alan Walters undermined.

Well ... Learner was half of Learner and Loewe, I think ... not that I know who Loewe was (Learner's songwriting partner, maybe?). And I don't know what a pyot is, and the red telephone might, as a complete guess, have been an early logo of the Samaritans (but only if nobody's tried that yet), on which note it's good night from me.

Okay, I've had a peek at my dictionary for pyot and it's not there. However it does have an entry for pyet/piet which is a bird....so maybe pyot is an alternative spelling?

TheGoodGuy
23rd July 2005, 01:27
Glos,
That well may be the case.
I have to admit that I have just cut & pasted that question without doing any prior research on the validity of the answer, but I do have a name of a bird as the answer.
