How do I get piccies down to 50k, have saved them for web through Adobe but they are still over 500k!

I use Irfan View - excellent free graphics prog (Google it to get the website) It's very useful, saves in all sorts of formats, and you can resize / resample images to get them down to a reasonable size. Usually JPG's are what you want, and you can alter the image quality from 100% down to get a balance of size vs quality

Have you changed them to Gif or Jpg in Adobe, it always works for me. Otherwise change the image size first.

Winace compressed it from 590k to 583k! :D
