(voice over ip) aka free phone calls.
i have no use for it as i am a miserable git who dosn't phone anyone, but my dad has just set it up on his computer and seems pretty impressed with it.
it basically uses the internet (broadband) to make phone calls to anywhere in the world (to a normal phone). from your computer, - i think you can get a 'voip phone' that connects straight to the phone line. but my dad is using a stupid 'call center esque' headphone set. - i had a go and the quality is fine. but for anyone who regulary makes 'worldwide' phone calls it could well be worth having a look at.
