Today i had a 11.0 winner, Thanks to Keith, and it finished first, dead heat with another horse.
Betfair only paid out half.
Is this because it was a dead heat? Would other bookmakers have done this?

I am a little confused by this.

betfair is correct in only paying out half.
bookmakers do the same.

In a dead heat situation Paul,
It is treated as you half won and half lost,
so only half is settled! The other half of your money is deemed to have lost!

A bet on a horse that dead heats becomes a half win-half lose bet.
Half stakes win at the odds taken (or SP if you struck the bet at SP) and half stakes are retained as a losing bet

Oh.
Ah well....
With the EW part of the bet being unmatched, this has hurt my feelings! That was the first unmatched bet I have had. Too much to hope for it to have happened on a losing bet!
It also trashed my spreadsheet!!
Shouldn't complain. All good fun!

Look at it like this lads, you got over 5/1 on a horse that did not win. Thats a fine result :)
