Have noticed that for a while Sporting Life' site has been naming each way bets that have been made on horses in their full results page.
Can any body explain to me what this sort of thing means?
£1125 - £500 Each Way. The horse finishes second. What is the payout?
What would the payout be if the horse won. The odds were 2/1 although I think that is immaterial.

Their just pointing out ¨significant¨ recorded on-course bets Bill.....

The payout etc is the same as with any bookie.......determined by number of runners and race type...

Yes, it is pretty confusingly worded, isn't it? It means that a bet was struck of which £1125 to a stake of £500 was the win component (in this case 9/4), and a different (unspecified but obviously much smaller and workable-out amount) to another stake of £500 was the place component.
