all my desktop icons have disappeared

I am having a b..r of a day with the laptop. Now everything on my desktop, all the icons/shortcuts I need, have vanished.... how do i restore them please ? I just need shortcuts to explorer, google, word etc..:hearty

Hi Susan, try this.....right click on the desktop, click 'arrange icons by' and then click 'show desktop icons'.

Check the RECYCLE bin
