i have 1mb broadband.

but when i download using limewire my web browsing just grinds to a halt (1min for a page to load etc...)

i know that if i am downloading at full capasity (116KB/s) this will happen, but even when i am downloading at a mear 2KB/s my web browsing still grinds to a halt.

it's not people uploading from me either, as i am a tight git who dosn't share. - well i do share 3 pics which never get uploaded, and i have also restricted mu upload speed to a very small ammount - i share 3 pic's as to appear as someone who shares files. - priority downloading.

you are on the hotlist for the special vice internet police.
you've been downloading stuff you shouldn't have and expect an early morning wakey call tomorrow Ooo

it's 1mb broadband ftb, over a home network (all other computers are off - so no bandwith hogging there).

The only other thing is Limewire is very resource-hogging, it uses up a lot of RAM. I find that when I'm trying to do other things with Limewire open (regardless of whether i've got downloads on the go or not) my PC becomes very sluggish. Pumping up your RAM could be the answer - how much capacity do you have?

Only thing to say to ya, and I know you'll know all this already, is to make sure there are no major processes running in the background (ctrl+alt+del), no spyware running...

Just as you asked that my internet almost froze..that was while it was verifying the contents of a fairly large download that just finished.

512mb - no other utilities running in the background.

it's not too much of a problem as i usually only put limewire on when i am away from the computer, but still it's quite annoying.

Just try Shareaza....much better....Limewire is not good, and is heavily targetted by Hollywood, music industry, and hackers/spammers.
