Norton highlighted a message about this earlier.

It was an Nmap Xmas Scan originating from www.footysim.co.uk :yikes:

Any ideas?

There's an i.p. address as well.

I'm not actually in complete understanding here (surprise surprise  )

That's the footysim server address - but it could have been 'spoofed' by the originator.

Oh-oh, I still don't understand what all this means...

Could people get a virus by visiting my site?

Has someone hacked my site?

Hence the reason i have not visited this site for a couple of weeks, i knw there was something shifty about it! :D

First off, nmap is NOT a virus. It is an information gathering 'hack'. However, it is often used as a precursor to 'plant' viruses using open ports. When I mentioned spoofing earlier, this is not strictly true - using a spoof IP address would render the scan ineffectual as the scan uses the address to return the results but this doesn't mean that hackers cannot 'hide' their real IP address in amongst other addresses.

My advice? If you detect this type of threat, just make sure your system is 'locked down' with a decent firewall!

Is it safe for people to visit the footy sim site Oldham,
and am I safe to do all the editing and stuff? Ooo

I visit the footy sim site on a regular basis (more regularly than Vegy judging by how often it is updated :peeky) and my PC has never suffered

Nothing on the server Vegy.

Sometimes a computer virus finds something, reports it, and gives out the last visited IP address, whether it is the correct problem source or not.
