This is probably one of those things that will only happen once in a blue moon. I went into a local bookie today to see if there was anything worth backing. While in there something caught my attention. On the soccer coupon they had the list of Eircom League matches for the weekend one of which was

Derry Vs Longford

I didnt take much notice till i looked at the GAA coupon for the weekend to, and also noticed that one of the matches is

Longford Vs Derry

Now if the Eircom leagues were to have their full names it would be Longford Town Vs Derry City, but it doesnt.
My question is if you put down Derry to beat Longford for example, meaning the GAA match, but they didnt win but the soccer team won could you still claim your win or would their be some grounds for dispute?

Probably not as it seems they are not both the same team at home. Could be an interesting one if they were, especially if they happened to be the same price by chance!

i read somewhere a while ago that a massive dispute arrupted when one punter did an accumulator including 'milan' the accumulator won but the bookie refused to pay up as it was not specified inter milan or AC milan. the punter meant it to be AC milan who won but i think inter lost or drew.

AC are always refered to as milan, wheras inter milan are always refered to as inter. so the punter has a good point. not sure what the outcome was.

Well thats poo. Definitely agree though if you ask anyone who knows what are inter milan called they will say inter. Although the punter could have argued that inter milan are in fact Internazionale where as AC Milan are just AC Milan, so if he said milan it should be AC.

Its an interesting one.
