help needed please

whenever i close down a web page i get a full size page up which is completley white and it says about blank in the top left and in the tab at the bottom of the screen

Happy to try... what browser are you using? How do you close the window? Does it always happen or just sometimes?

Any other useful info you can think of!?

happens all the time on ie 6 thought it might be spyware but i have ran adaware and spybot

If the page looks like this (http://www.adwareaway.com/images/al3.gif) then it's almost certainly a left-over trojan from some spyware that's got installed on your PC.

There are ways to remove it manually but the best thing to do first is to download this trial adware removal software that claims to eliminate all variants of the about:blank (http://www.adwareaway.com/aboutblank.htm) trojan. http://www.adwareaway.com/

This site also gives more technical details on how to remove it but it requires you to download and install a number of utilities and to perform a disinfection of your PC beforehand. http://www.silentrunners.org/sr_cwsremoval.html
