Im trying to set up a wireless connection at home...

I ran the installation disk, which was fine. I set up the wireless modem and the computer is picking up the signal, but It wont connect. when I try to connect, it keeps asking me for a key. (not sure what they want)

Has anyone got any ideas?

Quote:
Enter the key in the “Key” box and select the key to use in
the “Key Index” drop-down menu. This information should be
provided by your network administrator.
TIP: Most keys use Key Index 1.

If you go into the properties/setup of the broadcasting computer, and switch off WEP, the other will not need a key. However you will have no security on the signal then.

Best to manually enter the Key of your choice on each....and WRITE it down :)

Thanks keith. That worked.

But I'm now faced with yet another problem...

When I click on the icon in the bottom right of the screen, even though the signal strength is high, it still wont connect.

The 'Connection Status' says Acquiring network address

When I click on the 'more information' box, it says:

You might not be able to access the Internet or some other network resources. This problem occured because the network did not assign a network address to the computer

When I try to repair the connection, it fails, and says "Cannot renew IP address"

That'll teach you for not using a faster more secure cable network :)

Thanks for the referring link Wayne.

Only the thing is, the software doesn't even ask me to enter a key!
