these pub games are a farce.Blind levels are too short.Add in self deal and it becomes a farce.

i doupt it will rival a casino - but as keith says - it's about fun.
not sure how it's going to be organised, wether anyone can start up a game or it has to be pub organised (theres probably room for bending the rules). but to just meet up in a pub with a few mates, get a card game going, invite some fresh fish drinking at the bar to play - i can't see the downside.

You need a decent enough playing area though and most pub tables are sticky in my experience. Not a great environment for playing poker. And what about chips etc? Are you going to have to put a deposit behind the bar to get the cards and chips like you often do for the darts/pool cues?

I don't think its illegal over here. There seems to be card games in most pubs:doh

It is illegal to play for money though, prizes yes, money nope.
I think it would be more the pub arranging a tournie once a week rather than 'renting' out cards & chips.

Most non casino games that i play are held in hotels.Prizes are always cash and cash games are ran also on the side. The games are not ran by the hotels, they only rent the space

Seems like an ideal way to get the pub full of puntrs on a Monday or Tuesday now that pub quizes are dying a mobile phone google death.

Ah - alcohol and the chance to lose lots of money - what better way to guarantee a full casualty unit on any day of the week? :anger
It about sums up the government attitude to both gambling and alcohol ::swear
Still...as long as there is a 'Drink/Gamble Sensibly' logo on the pub doors...;fire
