My next purchase is going to be a desktop. I'm flying through these laptops...

Anyway, this one sounds like an old banger when it starts up so it's going to pack it in soon. What is the best way for me to back up everything, including things like favourites etc? Is there any free tools available online?

I've backed up a lot on to external hard drives and USBs etc but I want to do a completely comprehensive back up this time.

Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated.

If you are using XP, use the File and Settings Transfer tool (in control panel) and choose an external drive. You will then be able to transfer everything over once your new system arrives.

I can't find that bit in my XP control panel and I'm going to need to do something similar to FTB in the next day or so
