I'm toying with the idea of getting a new desktop or laptop.
I've been shopping around and I have noticed a lot of places say 'Express Vista Upgrade' .... does this mean it is not a free upgrade?
Should I just wait until vista comes out, or does the upgrade usually come free?

I think that just means you need to pay a few quid in handling fees - that's what I have to do with the upgrade that came with mine.
I intentionally bought a PC with XP before Vista came out so I have a working OS I can revert to if I decide Vista needs a while longer to mature and stabilise

I've been testing Vista over the weekend, and haven't found any software I use that does not work on it (and that's a lot!), and that includes all my own written software......it's also very pretty :)

How much should it cost to upgrade?

How much should it cost to upgrade?Mine is costing me £14 or thereabouts. Buying a new copy of Vista, i.e. not getting it as part of an upgrade will be over a ton I would have thought.

Did you know that Vista comes with AV included? Well that is if you live outside Europe....the EU decided it was anti-competitive....so MS had to remove it, so buy US copies if your buying it.

Ultimate 32-Bit (not a lot works on 64) - OEM
It doesn't matter what version you buy, it is all the same disk. The OEM allows upgrades, and never has done on previous versions. However, I get the OEM's as I build computers for my customers, so I am not in breach of the MS License.
Best to do a clean install on a fresh disk.

You can't upgrade a 32-bit Vista to a 64.....has to be a clean install as the security is different.
