Nice to see a thread for the World cup.

I think India will win the tournament with Sri Lanka been the dark horses. I dont think Australia will be able to make it a hatrick of wins.

Pakistan set 242 to win by the Windies. Should be achievable due to very short straight boundaries that should play to the strengths of Inzy, younis and yousuf

Not a very good start. Pakistan played some very strange shots

I think the biggest problem was Inzamaan and Mohammad Yousuf only scoring 60-odd runs in 18 overs. They left the later batsmen far too much to do.

No Flintoff for England today dropped for disciplinary reasons. England really couldn't do anything else about it. The bloke got drunk after an abject performance on friday and then took a pedalo and capsized it at 4 in the morning

the windies arn't today, :ermmm
run rate of 2 an over after 11 overs - when chasing a big total, 20 for 3 wickets :(

.........................
on a seperate note, it's a shame to see a poor crowd attendance and no atmosphere at such an event - the organisation seems terrible from what the commentators have been saying:

no use of surrounding car parks, people have to use a park and ride scheme away from the ground. - just a shame the busses didn't appear at the close of play, leaving people to walk 2km back to there cars

crackdown on food / drink / musical instruments - have to be bought inside the ground (massive ques) putting people off.

no cheaper tickets available ($90 starting price) pricing out the majority of locals. and leaving poor attendances (even in the WI matches).

I think the infrastructure is to blame for the lack of parking etc.

But the organisers (not the ICC) are definitely to blame for the prices of food and drink inside the grounds and ticket prices. I was surprised to see prices as high as they are I have to admit. The West Indies have put a lot of money into hosting this tournament but the locals have been priced out of it, which is a shame as they love their cricket and create a great atmosphere at games

just seen this on soccer AM.

remember when england played bangladesh in the crunch game and needed 3 to win from the last ball. well they should have had 2 balls - as the umpire miscounted in one over.

................. not that it probably matters

Don't know about you lot, but this has gone on so long, I've completely lost interest. It should all be over within 3-4 weeks, that way folk could also have booked holidays.....the way it is now, no one will book for the latter stages, having no idea who is in or out.....stupid ICC....no idea of marketing.

It was a farce from the start, 2 months......ticket prices costing a months wage for the locals....empty grounds :headbange ......and then to cap it all off, the umpires decided to prove beyond doubt they wanted to look as important as Premiership referees, and Cheltenham/Aintree starters :Blacklistnonono:

...and what use are the Super 8's? No matter how they played it, if it had only been a month long, which it should be, Sri Lanka & the Aussies would still have been in the final, no matter what format.

...and get rid of that Sri Lankan who throws like a girl :laugh
