My thoughts on the 2 50 at Lingfield today:

Obrigado – Has plenty of talent on his day but is a very difficult ride and would have won last time had he not forfeited several lengths at the start. Too many ifs to consider.

Gaelic Princess – Looks to have been crying out for step up in trip on last few runs but has never been in the top two at Lingfield on the all weather. Well capable of placing but have a feeling it will find at least one too good.

Summer Dancer – done most racing over 7f and a mile and the he pulls over those trips suggest this step up in trip will be too far. Difficult to see him placing.

Without Excuse – Lightly raced and won a claimer last month returning from a break (seems to have had its problems). First run in handicap company since then resulted in a fourth place in a decent race (winner was taking his hat trick, second had won its last race) and that run is given extra credit after a slightly slow start. Could still be improving and should go very well.

Waterline Twenty – Not won at this distance before and suspicion that strongly run mile is best. Capable of getting involved but can’t be too far ahead of his handicap mark.

Oakley Heffert – Couldn’t win in similar race when getting the run of the race and unlikely to get things his own way up front today. Overlooked.

Baan – Ultra consistent being placed in last four runs and not really been raised by the handicapper for that consistency. All of those runs at Wolverhampton but no reason why that form can’t be transferred to Lingfield. Should be thereabouts again but losing run now 23 races.

Meditation – Has four wins here but been running over a mile and this is likely to stretch the stamina. Another who has failed to win when getting the run of the race and hope is that he will at least set a decent pace for the hold up horses with better chances.

Verdict – If this is run at a decent enough clip then Without Excuse should be too good as he holds most secrets from the handicapper. Gaelic Princess should also run well in these circumstances while Baan may be the one to capitalise if there is not much early pace as he likes to sit handy.

1. Without Excuse

2. Gaelic Princess

3. Baan
