A steady start. Disappointed with Sunderland though. Wigan's away record was dreadful going into this match so for the Black Cats to let in three without reply is bad news really.

I didn't read that properly. Spread betting - I havent done that since 2001 when I made £2k on the Ashes series and made up for all my previous losses. I vowed never to do it again.
35 minutes gone and 9 corners - you could be paying out by half time at this rate. Mind you, I can't believe there have been so many in such a dull game.

35 minutes gone and 9 corners - you could be paying out by half time at this rate. Mind you, I can't believe there have been so many in such a dull game.My losses are limited to 10 times my stake on BetHiLo so the most I could lose is 1pt. I considered the fixed odds for under 11 with a saver on exactly 11 but opted for the spread. Even a maximum loss on that market is perfectly bearable.

That Sunderland game was a weird one. A dreadful game and on the pre-match stats that corners bet was the banker of the midweek fixtures. ah well. The others all came in which is nice.
I saw quoite a few tipsters going over 2.5 goals on the Man Utd game and was amazed to see under 2.5 at odds against as the stats pointed to an unders match. It seems quite a few tipsters were expecting a rout, and also for Pompey to get at least one. I must admit that when Ronaldo bagged a brace inside the first 15 minutes I figured the bet was dead in the water so I was very pleased to see that one end as it did.

Me too! Fortunately they decided to coast the rest of the game. I didn't think we'd score tonight so Utd would have had to get all the goals to go over.

I didnt see what price overs was after 15 mins but I would think it wouldve been around 1.15 wouldnt it? Not much more....you'd have nearly collected your money for overs if you got in then. I too thought it would be Utd who scored the goals so making 3 goals just the outsider.
Was impressed with Utd tonight...I know Pompey were understrength but I couldnt see them scoring at all.As for Ronaldos free kick....how the hell do you stop a shot like that...mind you I thought the free kick was slightly harsh! Be a lot tougher game at Spurs at the weekend. I fancy a 2-2 myself for what its worth....not much! :)

Looks a likely one Mat. My only concern would be Distin is almost certainly out and he's been the cornerstone of our defence. Plus Anelka always scores against us!Almost all of Chelsea's away form this season points to this one be a low scoring affair. Combine that with your lack of home goals and it's an easy bet. Defoe coming in concerns me a little as he could throw the stats out a little. But your record against the top 4 this season is pretty good having drawn with Man Utd (1-1), Arsenal and Liverpool (both 0-0) at home and they have all gone under 2.5 goals.
All of these bets are based on stats and getting the right price for the probability of the event happening (that much-loved value word) and having crunched the numbers for this one I think 4/6 is a decent price. Pompey have had 8 out of 11 home games go under and Chelsea have had 10 out of 12 away games go the same way. So 18 of the 23 relevant games have gone under making 4/6 actually look rather generous.

Yep, agree completely Mat. As I say the only worry for me would be Distin out, as I can't overstate how important he is to our defence. But my guess would be 1-2 0-1 0-2. We've yet to take a single point from Chelsea in the Premier. Let today be the day!
Right, off to watch Defoe score twice in a 2-0 win and we're both happy! :laugh

I also had a couple of cheeky fun bets on the matches I went to this weekend but I won't be including those in the stats. I had a cheeky fiver on AFC Wimbledon to beat Horsham but they lost 4-2, with Horsham scoring all four of the chances they had during the game. I also backed the draw on the handicap (Grimsby +1) in this afternoon Johnstone's Paint Trophy final but with Franchise Scum winning 2-0 (thanks to a rubbish ref!) I lost that one. That bet was a free bet left over from Cheltenham though so losing it cost me nowt really.

A clean sweep this weekend :D
I went half stakes on the Tyne and Wear derby because it was a derby match and close to the end of the season so I had my doubts about the stats holding up but they did admirably. So four out of four and another 2.76pts to the total profit :)

A stinking weekend last weekend with all four bets going the wrong way, some thanks to events late in the game too when the refs went a bit mental. Ah well, such is life I guess.

Another poor weekend last weekend with only two winners from eight bets. Is this because it's the end of the season and some teams have nothing to play for? Or was it sheer bad luck plain and simple? A loss of just under 2pts whatever the cause.

I'll also be having 1pt at evens with Bet365 on Fulham to NOT be relegated. They are outside the drop zone going in to the final set of matches and I expect them to stay there. W +1pt

That's a little better. No need for the saver on the corner handicap after all as Chelsea comfortably came ahead on the corner count. Liverpool ran out winners in a truly nothing match between two draw specialists but Fulham did the business against a weakened Pompey side ahead of their FA Cup final appearance next weekend. Three out of five this weekend and a profit of 0.60pts

64/116 = 55.17%

I'd have settled for figures like that if someone had offered them to me when I started this thread so I am pleased with my performance this season and am looking forward to a bigger and better season starting in August :)

Just been balancing my books and have realised a bet I had marked down as a loser is actually void. Berbatov anytime goalscorer from a couple of weeks back. So my figures are actually:
64/115 = 55.65%
