Wel, I have my reservatons wether this will be realised,
but Grimsby Town are only 2 legs away from a match at Wembley Stadium.

I know if the Mariners reach the summitt, Mat will probably travelling with his Grimsby mates, but it is still an opportunity to meet up at a nice venue where we can participate in drinking and hopefully celebrating
a win for one of the Win2Win adopted teams... unkless there are any unbeknownst Morecambe supporters who have an objections :laugh

So, thought I'd test the waters...

A Possibility?

Plans could all be scuppered depending on the ticketing policy of course. I knew an Orient fan who tried to go to a play-off match in a half full stadium last season only to be denied entry because they had to have bought a ticket from either of the clubs beforehand. But we'll find that out in due course if the idea is anywhere tangible.

I think we can make the final though. The proper final I mean. We're already in the northern final. We seem to be well up for this competition this year and if we were to win it would be 10 years since we last won it (beating Bournemouth with a cheeky little goal) and that was under Lord Alan Buckley too :thumbs

I'm up for a meetie uppie if I have plenty of notice as I'll have to get a flight, but not at a football match. I would rather have to sit here a read every one of gingertipsters posts again:D

A southern race track though would be great.

At Half Time it's

Morecambe 0-1 Grimsby

SO the hard bit done, winning the away leg,
Just 90 minutes separate Grimsby from the final against MK Dons.

Come on you Mariners!

This is a tricky one for me. I'd love to see us at Wembley (again :)) but really not against BFS FC. I really don't want to even acknowledge that they are a real club and don't want to contribute to the club through ticket sales etc.

I am honestly torn. In a way I hope we lose the home leg....

How about we all go to the game where Luton get relegated :thumbs

You could be hung up on a hook for that Mat in the Pontoon end! :yikes: I wont say a word...honest... :) On the other side of it...its a good chance for Town to stick it up them...that would give you some satisfaction eh?!

Well, I believe this went fairly unnmentioned, but The Mariners did it!

The "Messiah" Alan Buckley has worked his magic stick over Grimsby,
and not only got them to within a sniff of the play-offs, but also in the LDV Vans Trophy Final against Mat's second favourite team by the sounds of it :D

The date = March 30th!

Somehow, the MK Dons have completely sold out their entire allocation!
That's 28,000 tickets, and they have applied for more.

Grimsby are on sale to season ticket holders at the moment, or will be from Wednesday. It will be unlikely I would have thought that there will be any spare seats considering the Mariners have a massive catchment area and have in the past manged some qite large attendances, and as Mat I'm sure will remind us, held the record up till recently for having the biggest attendance at Old Traford. :)

SO, as a meety uppy event, I think this is unlikely now, but I'm sure that Grimsby wil be backed by in excess of 90% of footbal fans everywhere on that weekend!

What's going on in the world? Pompey at Wembley, Grimsby at Wembley, next thing you know it'll be Orient!

Our home crowds are pretty poor and it's only for things like this that the town suddenly remembers that they have a football team. But it's a day out, innit?

And we still have that Old Trafford record (by 864!) :D

So the cows in the catchment area would be the inspiration behind the black and white kit? :D Or are there zebras there!

Pah, we beat youo all to it anyway!

Wembley was our actual "Home ground" for two matches back in the 30's after we were unable to play at our then stadium which didn't meet league requirements! :D

And we won both those home games by the way :D

MattR

Unbeaten at Wembley then, or have you had play off games there? Last time we were there we played in black and white :D

vegyjones

No we've never lost a play-off final at the old Wembley..

and if Iron Chris says differently - he's lying! :peeky

MattR

At least you've had play off games there. We've never even had them! For some reason finishing 4th and 5th from bottom perenially in the championship doesn't get you a play off berth!

The one season we did make the play offs we were denied going to Wembley when we lost in the semi final to Leicester who won with an offside goal, not that I'm bitter about it in any way. The :censored:'ds. This after losing out to West Ham for second place on goals scored having had the same goal difference, meaning we finished third, some 26 points clear of Swindon in 6th who won the playoffs!

Our current manager Martin Ling, was man of the match in that play-off final by the way! :D
