hi liverpool information needed

hey people i know i havent been around here much but i need some quick honest reliable information on aintree and getting tickets and where to stay.

my sister rings me tonight tells me my dad aint to good and she dont know whats up with him says he kinda down not himself so i want to bring him to aintree on saturday till monday fly out from dublin sat morn leave monday morning . flights are cheap enough 180 euro but where can i stay near aintree or liverpool centre for about 300 euro and where would i get tickets for aintree on saturday and how much would they cost .

You'll have a problem getting anywhere to stay near the course. Waterloo is a good place to stay, 2-3 miles from the track, plenty of taxi's, and right by the sea :) ....more important...plenty of nice pubs :thumbs

They ain't taking online bookings. I assume you will have to ring up and reserve tickets!

Definitely don't leave it until on the day because you may end up disappointed!

Also there's a travelodge 13 miles away from the course if you were looking for budget hotels :D

:yikes::yikes::yikes: I'm not surprised.....that is gangland territory, a few shootings in the last 12 months, and plenty of stabbings. It is on the MAIN road into Liverpool, is a complete dump, and right next to the tunnel entrance. :ermmm I have to pass it every Monday, and do so without stopping. The garage there is like Fort Knox. :ooo

...and it's further away than the hotels I gave you.

As for getting in, tickets are still aorund, but you can pay to enter the inner track part on any day.

I took a walk past a couple of the fences yesterday, very nice :) .....but where was the security? :doh

could always try here if you havent booked the hotel, its on queens drive not to far away plus two decent pubs one across the road (jolly miller) or the stag and rainbow next to it

You did ask for advice & then ignore it :rolleyes: I grew up near those places, so know what they are like, and they are a lot worse now. As long as you don't walk around the area & stick to the hotel you'll be fine!! The areas is a dump though.

Aintree - 3-4 miles
City - 2-3 miles

i rang the ticket line and the only ones left are for steeple chase

queens drive is one of the buisest roads on liverpool so you will have no probs with taxis and buses to aintree and town centre also just down the road from m62 and airports
also very close to the football grounds, normally full of norwegions staying there when liverpool are at home

You can get in on the day for all 3 days, but not through the front gate (jump the fence by the railway :D :rolleyes:), or pay to get it!

The front gate is near where it says A59 if you have tickets. The easiest way on to the track if you don't is on the Melling Road, just pay at the gate, this gets you onto the track, not the grandstands. Make sure you go on the side with the grandstands though, otherwise you only get to see one race on the other side :doh
