I have bought some software that is Vista compatible and followed all the installation instructions, so why won't the bloody thing run? I sent an email to the site and used live chat but got the same advice as the download instructions.

I am the administrator and have all the necessary privileges. The software installs properly but then when I try to run it I just keep getting a message telling me it has stopped working.

This is not the only program that doesn't work but the others can run on my desktop which has XP. However, this needs to be on my Laptop as I use it away from home.

Does anybody know any issues with Vista that stop programs running? To be honest it is driving me nuts and this one program has to be on the laptop.

I've never had any problems with Vista that aren't easily sorted, an I had 4.6 Million files last scan :yikes:

When you say you have admin privileges, are you in the Admin itself (which you shouldn't be using), or a user setup as Admin? As the latter does not give you full admin!

Whenever you go to install, always right-click and Install as Administrator.

If the program still isn't working, right-click on the icon and change the compatability to XP.

Not working - I tried your suggestions but got nowhere. I'll trawl the T'Internet to see if there is anything.

:doh Never had a problem with MS running on MS. I've installed Office on many machines with Vista, works like a dream.

Have you tried unpluuging from the internet, and switching off the firewall/AV, then installing.....but UNINSTALL what you've already put on first.

You'll find it's something 3rd party, not an MS problem.

Only if you don't use it correctly. How many people read the manual? And then when something goes wrong it's not their fault!!!! DUH!!!

Vista is the best OS around these days for software support, it is 3rd party items that cock it up as the vendors can't be bothered doing some work, as they've already made the money selling the XP lot.
