Having Mandaric as Chairman! Forever be greatful to him for saving Pompey but he was forever meddling, endless comments in the paper regarding players or team, probably well intentioned but ultimately undermining the managers. Now we've got Gaydamak, the ideal owner. He stays largely in the background but gets things done off the pitch and supplies the money needed for on the pitch.

He took over Paris St Germain, Feyenord, and Panathanaikos. But he failed miserably when he tried to take over Moscow Dynamo.

His squad didn't have the strength in depth to campaign on multiple fronts

I think the rot set in with the protracted negotiations to take over Zenit St Petersburg.
