We complain about corruption in other countries? These Councillors are nothing but thieving scumbags. If any of use took £100,000 off the council, that would be fraud, and you'd bet we'd be locked up longer than a drunk driver who ran over and killed 4 kids. ;fire

This shows what is wrong with this country, if those in charge are free to break the ::swear law, then why should the rest of us bother with it?

Never mind central government 'asking' them to give it back, central government should have them all done for fraud, sacked, and pensions taken away. :icon_tong :icon_tong :icon_tong :icon_tong

:doh No response in over an hour? I take it most folk like being walked over then?

Surely this is something the Serious Fraud Office should look into? Problem is, they won't do anything until they recieve an 'Official Complaint'. So what the :censored: is one of them? :doh

I'd have thought that with 100's, probably 1000's of off-duty police being 'ROBBED', they'd jump at the chance at 'doing' councils over.

The problem is, people in this country now just put up with it, and let these ::swear walk all over them. I've never let anyone get away with something if they've done wrong.

Isn't it about time we all stood up for ourselves and say enough is enough? So get your :censored: pen & paper out and right to the SFO, MP, Mr Brown :butthead:, and Uncle ::swear Tom Cobbly if need be. ;fire

I don't think it's got anything to do with people allowing themselves to be walked over. It's mostly because people aren't aware that that they can appeal (after all, the councils don't exactly bend over to inform people) and because the councils themselves operate an automated system of rigid enforcement combined with threats of increased penalties. That's why people pay up rather than risk the fear of getting into a long-drawn out legal battle with their council, who they know can afford legal teams, threats of court summonses, bailiffs seizing the vehicle, etc - even though they'd probably win their case.
