.....would you buy? I can't decide :doh

http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowProduct.action?product=DCR-SR35E&site=odw_en_GB&imageType=Main&category=SDH+Hard+Disk+Drive[/URL] £250

The former has more space & zoom, but smaller CCD, and looks like a box! The latter does have a 16GB interal card, so no moving parts, it only does wide screen though, although that's not a serious issue.

How the hell do they get 16GB on one of those little SD cards, and to work fast enough to capture video, and yet MP's can't figure out how to manage expenses? :splapme

Not sure why the FS11 say x45 zoom, it is only x37, and uses technology to do the rest (but not digital zoom).

We already do that Sparky.....visit....www.win2windollyandme.com (http://www.win2windollyandme.com) :ooo (I do hope that is a dead link :laugh )

I thought the Sony looked bland! :doh

However, I probably will go for that on the basis that is has an optical stabilizer, whereas the Canon has an electronic one, which is not as good at high zoom.

The high zoom is handy for places like the USA, as it saves driving miles to look at something :laugh I can also spy on the next village

My present one is a tape one I bought in Singapore in 2002, 23x zoom, but is a pain if trying to use it while shaking, or moving....looks good though, but bulky.

I'd go for the SD version - a hard drive will probably have the same frailties of a standard HD, i.e. give it a bit of a shake when it is in a read/write operation and you could damage the heads beyond repair.

16Gb SD cards are available for around £50 (or probably less).
