why do people do this it always amazes me that people are stupid enough to show there hands. the only time i ever show my hand if i have the complete dogs bolloxs i.e 4 of a kind or i am the bb with say 7,2 off and everybody folds. there are only a few tools you can use to read peoples games on internet poker and one of them is if someone keeps showing there hands they are obviously inclined to bluf now and again and you can call them with a half descent hand knowing before the flop you have a 50/50 chance they are bluffing.
you thoughts on this play

I never show my hands unless I HAVE to. I fold all losing and winning hands but I do take notes on what is shown down and what people volunteer to show. I also have Poker Office flash up what cards people take to the show down but fold, which it gets from the hand histories

poker office is that freeNo, it costs maybe $100 but you can get it free by joining certain sites with a given code and playing out the required number of hands to get the loyalty points to get the software registration code. Well worth having either Poker Office or Poker Tracker. I have both and prefer Poker Office

There is a time and a place for showing hands.
Towards the final stages of MTT's I push ATC a lot, become very aggressive, and show a mix of hands dependant on who is sat in the blinds.
I will show different strength hands, again dependant on who is in the blinds.
Pshycologically I believe showing can and does give you an advantage when used at the right time against the right people.

i often show hands, but always for a purpouse. such as:
show bluffs when playing tight,
show the nuts when playing lose.
most people take no notice, but it can mislead some and make them play different against me, sometimes if feeling a bit naughty i will pick a certain player to needle and try and put them on tilt - usually a lose aggressive player with a big chip stack who i want to double up on.

i love the banter that goes on in some games and quite often will get envolved my first tourny today was brilliant for the banter 3 people having a go at each other couldn't concentrate for laughing.

The poker rooms aren't always too hot for banter but when they are in can be quite humiliating for some, and a great read.
Showing hands - something I used to do quite a lot of but now do very, very little of. The minute you show your hands, you expose yourself. Yes I think it can lead to a psychological advantage in some instances, but I think it opens you up too much especially in the middle stages of a tournament.

i have PT2 no hud, im thinking of gettin the 3rd edition with its built in hud or should i perhaps consider poker office? i know their has probably been much discussion on this on 2+2 but thought id mention here. Im assuming each has a trial i could give a shot, but if their are any poker office users over using PT could you tell me what features you prefer?

I haven't used PT3 but I have used Poker Office for a while now because of the built-in HUD. I wouldn't move back to Poker Tracker now though as I have started to build up meaningful data in PO and know how to get what I need out of it.
I think these days PO and PT are closer in terms of functionality than they ever have been. I'd just pick one and roll with it if I were you.

In terms of HUD I have always preferred the layout of Poker Tracker (never used Poker Office) as that is the one I am use too and they have added alot of new features.
Another tracker software to try is Holdem Manager which is suppose to be just as good as PT3 and supports alot more sites (inc. betfair).
Both offer 30 days trial so I would give them a try and see what you like.
