Just wanted to know if anyone has this software and what they think of it?

I've read a lot of good things about it on poker forums and at $85 it isn't going to break the bank.

I've just been using the free, 6 hour trial for this software and all I can say is that it is brilliant! The game play is very, very realistic and as you can set it to have no time limit between decisions it is ideally suited to people who want to play whilst a work as you can keep coming back to the table and it will still be your go.

You can customise tournaments and even play online against other Poker Academy players.

If you haven't tried it, download the demo as it's a great bit of kit.

Is it a training tool then? Does it teach you to play better poker?

I am a little dubious of software like that as everyone has their own style so there's only so much it can teach you, such as when it is profitable to shove. So it'd be interesting to hear more about this

Yes it is a training tool but, don't worry about it trying to change your fundamental game as it is completely customizable.

Basically, you choose what sort of game you want to play (SnG, MTT, cash game) and customize it by changing the amount of players, hand levels etc and then play the tournament.

What makes it great is how realistic your opponents are. When you're playing the game there is a 'hand advisor' which advises you what to do but, again you can customize this to your own playing style by choosing how tight, aggressive you want it to be.

You can also choose what sort of opponent you play against.

It comes with a complete stats package with all the bells and whistles and a tutorial guide.

Personally I'm just enjoying playing the poker and ignoring the hand advisor at the moment.

Apparently it is the AI which took 10 years to develop which makes it so realistic as opponents will learn your game and try to exploit your weaknesses.

Here's the information page:

I think you'll really enjoy it mat.
