Hi All,

2.00 Beverley

Here we go. A 5f up the hill race at Beverley and the going is Heavy. They just had an emergency inspection and the meeting goes ahead, it is constant rain at the moment up here. Beverley has a notorious reputation in 5f races, which is to go for a High draw, but be warned that is purely based on Good or better going. When the rain falls the stand side comes right into play. So the high draw theory is out the window. This can be seen by the bookies making Monte Major (Drawn 2 of 17) a miserly 6/1 shot (and seems to prefer left handed tracks, Beverley is a right handed track) and Myriola (Drawn 3) is just 7/1. Under normal circumstances these low numbers would have no chance whatsoever, so watch your bets in this big field. As to what is going to win has now turned into an absolute lottery. I feel that going will make this more like a 6 or 7 furlong event in the bottomless ground, there is a difference of only 5lb on official weights so the weight should not be a factor, makes it even harder to narrow them down. Dubai To Barnsley (Drawn 5) did win last time out here over this distance in soft going, that was a very close finish and he was drawn 1 of 13 that day so must come into the reckoning at a tasty 9/1, he is up 3lb in the handicap, but this is a poorer quality of opposition, that makes another plus. Whozart is the expected favourite, but the far side is not going to be the advantage that it would normally get.

So, I am having a fairly confident punt on:

Dubai To Barnsley Each-Way (2.00 Beverley)

Shop around there is still 9/1 to be had out there.

Good Luck!

Gordon
