I've always known about Imogen Heap but never had the desire or inclination to find out more about her but a friend just introduced me to this video so now I'll definitely be exploring more!

I lasted 2 minutes 15 before I had to turn that noise off!
Not my cup of tea at all... I thought it was god awful!

I'm with Vegy on this one John.... she sings flat, out of tune, just awful, I hear better from the cats fighting outside some nights!

I'm astounded... truely astounded. It's gorgeous, and so clever that she records herself over and over and makes the whole song from scratch, from nothing into something.

Multi layered wailing :laugh. Sorry John I stand by my initial thoughts, she's a poor singer, like I said, flat and out of tune, using a bit of studio trickery to try and cover it up. That sort of multi-tracking approach has been around since they invented 4-track recording equipment, especially when it was enhanced by the ability to 'bump' all 4 tracks onto one with a small loss of quality and re-use the other 3 over again.

Hmm. I started watching it and was OK for the first minute or so and then the screeching started and I had to kill it

Each to their own I guess. :) I like it, and yes I know the ability to record multi-layer has been around for ages. She's no poor singer! Anyway.

I gave it another go John... still don't like it at all, especially when she goes for the high notes, it's like chalk screeching on a blackboard, and even Lucy, one of our dogs looks at the screen and cocks her head to the side as if to say what the hell is that racket! I thougt I would have liked it given I'm a big fan of some other quirky, unique female vocalists... Kate Bush, Bjork, and a bit of Tori Amos... but nope she does nothing for me at all. Still as you said, each to their own.
Oh yeah, if you keep a sharp eye out, just about to post a link to something you might like....:thumbs

I'll keep my eyes peeled 'specially. :)
As for Bjork - my housemate's friend used to go to the same gym as Bjork. She used to have the pleasure of "watching her" get undressed in the changing rooms... :yikes:
Your dog woofin' loves Imogen Heap, clearly! :D
