Fantastic.....2.5% off a 12p tin of peas will really get the economy going :splapme

The only reason he'll cut VAT is to prevent the large companies leaving the UK, bugger all to do with anything else......and if it will be higher than 17.5% in the future that'll cripple overseas transactions, we already have one of the highest rates in the world, Singpaore 5%, USA depends on the State, but usually 0%-7%

The companies that print price labels are probably worth buying shares in

Irish shops are losing thousands from shoppers going up north for all their buying, now with vat cuts there will be convoys. Bad as you might think england is, ireland is worse. If we get sick its 50 euro for a doctor and probably the same amount for medicine.

If we get a drop of 2.5% in VAT it means that the £500 TV I couldn't afford last week will only cost me £487.50 this week.

WAHEY!!! I'll have two. (tins of peas that is)

The panto season has arrived early.

Good Game - Good Game! :laugh

You pay bugger all on gambling profits :thumbs

I see it's the VAT CON on most things.....and he's screwed the haulage industry...which will mean higher prices on the goods :splapme

VAT reduced, but he's put up fuel duty to counteract it......the haulage industry can claim back the VAT, but not the duty, so they are technically taxed more!!! :ermmm

As I have already been banned for commenting on Strictly Come Dancing, the phrase "in for a penny, in for a pound" springs to mind.

Buy a tin of chip shop-style mushy peas...and there's no VAT payable.
Buy some mushy peas from the chip shop...and VAT is payable because heated food is considered to be a luxury item.
Given the price of energy, that last statement is becoming even more true for more people.
