Allowances

One of the best apprentices lost his 3lb allowance early this week by having the requisite number of winners. There he was next day still with the allowance. Is it like handicaps and a week to week adjustment?

As far as I know, Allowances are at the time of declarations. If a horse is declared at the 5-day stage with a jockey booked to ride, they will carry the weight assigned (including allowances) at that stage.

The authorities have made so many cock-ups over the years over this I doubt they know themselves!!! :)

Thanks Oldham - that would make sense (so with racing rules its probably wrong!).
