Anyone here use Timeform?

I've got Timeform-i and find their daily race ratings very handy (especially Irish racing which seems to be untapped with plenty of high priced top-rated winners). However, despite Timeform-i offering a system builder, it won't let you mine the ratings.

I've been building my own set of data based on their ratings and it's proving interesting with some early profitable angles coming up. Anyone here use Timeform and if so, what's your verdict?

.....it won't let you mine the ratings.
:laugh I wonder why?

I'll tell ya.....as it shows a MASSIVE loss. The other similar supplier of ratings also have a system builder.....without their own ratings :ermmm

Just shows you how good RSB is. :thumbs

Their Irish ratings are about the best of what they do if you ask me, and I don't think many people use them.

Haven't looked into RSB in years - might take a look again.

dear wb have just joined and your thread was of interest to me i use raceform interactive and they carry all the form for the Irish racing but so far from a betting point i have not availed my self
do you bet on the Irish racing and if so do you find it as profitable as your bets on English racing regards

Hi mick, yes I do bet on Irish racing and I manage to churn a small profit - but then again, I'm from Ireland and write about it for a newspaper over here so I'd probably know a bit more than the average guy on the street in the UK. I also know a lot of people in the industry here and have a horse in training so I'd be fairly up-to-date with the scene.

I also use Raceform Interactive which I also find useful.

I think the fact that less people bet on Irish racing means that things like Timeform's top rated are not backed to the same extent as they are in the UK. I find the Irish ratings very useful but there are not profitable to follow blindly if that is what you are asking.

I don't know of any ratings that are profitable without other variables included.

thanks wb no i was not talking about following ratings blindly the approach i use for English racing which is a combination of systematic filters and methodical form analise turns a profit and would indicate selections in irish racing and i guess my best approach will be to paper proof these until i can see that they will or will not return the same type of roi as the English selections and therefore be worth backing
changing the subject slightly do you have a preference between timeform-i and raceform interactive? kindest regards

Personally, I prefer Timeform but that's probably because I've been using them a lot longer and understand them better. I've been using RI for nearly a year and am getting better at using it every day.

dear wb did you no there is an offical forum for RI subscribers there is not a hugh amount posted but it is worth a look

Yeah, I've been over there but it's extremely quiet! It's a shame really as RI is very powerful but there are no proper instructions bar the little booklet they give which is not all that helpful.

They are also slow to respond to basic requests for change. For example, Timeform allow you to quickly view all the top rated horses on one page (and how far ahead they are). So for example, if I only want to look at horses that are more than 5lbs clear of the field, that is easy to do. However, on RI, you have to click into each race individually which is very time consuming.

The RI interface is soooooo dated. Each version usually means it is exactly the same! :doh

It'd be handy if they at least allowed a testing function on the system builder rather than having to do it all one step at a time, and a way to run all systems at once. Both of those functions are mostly the norm in other software.

Is that question aimed at me?

I use Timeform-i rather than computer Timeform.

wb no sorry it was aimed at win to win i don't think i am allowed to send pm yet i once had a conversation with a world champion match fishing angler and i realised that he was asking me! questions about tackle and tactics this made me feel humble and when i spoke to him about this he answered " i am like a sponge no matter how often i win i constantly want to soak up more information and knowledge to enable me to do even better"i hope it does not sound to melodramatic but i feel the same way about horse racing

at least it does not get boring best regards

Mick, if you want to ask someone in particular a question, why not use the quote button on their post in the thread and write your message underneath their message. :thumbs

I now use Proform mainly, but also Raceform Interactive, the former being cheaper with a better system builder (something RI could learn from considering Proform is done by one guy)
