View Full Version : Grand National - What's your money on?

It's been a seemingly long Antepost market for me and the National but I'm looking in good shape to make a profit on this year's race...just how much (if any) depends on what wins. But if any of the following win, I'm going to be a happy bunny:

My Will - 100 points (potential win)
Butler's Cabin - 59
Rambling Minster - 482
Kilbeggan Blade - 90
Irish Invader - 74
Chelsea Harbour - 433
Hear the Echo - 125
L'ami - 115
Preists Leap - 980

I'll probably set up a few 'lay offs' in running but only to recover my initial outlays.

My Will and Irish Invader were the 2 I reckoned had a good chance.....

I'm on Irish Invader each way. Also doing Darkness and Comply Or Die each way for smaller stakes. I think My Will has the best chance, but don't like the price any more since Ruby announced that he's riding.

I'll also dutch the top eight horses in the market at an overall price of 5/6 as 14 of the last 18 winners all started in the first eight in the betting.

I've put some money on for the missus, as I do every year. I've backed the following each-way

Black Apalachi
Darkness
Preists Leap
State of Play
Kilbeggan Blade

I have My Will in the office sweepstake and people started accusing me of fixing it when they found I had drawn the favourite. They seem to be confusing winner with favourite! :splapme

I've done the following on the Back and Place markets on Betfair. They are from a system I tinkered around with this week the base variable of which is races 4m and up. There are about 5 other rules and looking back over the past qualifiers it had thrown up it had picked the national winner as a qualifier in 2004/6/7 and 8 so we shall see!

Rambling Minster
Chelsea Harbour
Darkness
L'Ami
Southern Vic

The GN is one of the best races for trading on all year. Lock in the profit on every horse......kind of takes the thrill out of the race, but hey, I'm only involved for the money.
