The space where you normally type www.xxxxxxxx.co.uk (http://www.xxxxxxxx.co.uk) has vanished from my screen.
I have tried ticking the various things on the toolbar options etc, how do I get it back?

Not seen that before Sam. Just had a look at the tools options and I can't see anything connected to that either. One thing that might be worth trying if you haven't yet is tools/internet options then go to the advanced tab and reset the internet explorer options on that page.

It's in VIEW, but it may already be visible but crunched up somewhere at the top between 2 lines ||

I've done the re-set and nothing.
In View - under toolbars I have ticked standard buttons, address bar, and lock the toolbar . I've tried unticking them and reticking them but still nothing.

If it is ticked then it is probably there. What version you using? IE8 is now available, and is lovely :)

I can agree with this, had it on a few weeks now and it seems pretty stable.:omg:

Is IE8 much better than 7? I always use Mozilla nowadays as I find it so much better than IE. Especially with Betfair which I find is slower on IE for some reason.

I have used Avant for years and haven't seen a reason to switch to any other browser. It's IE based and wonderful :hearty
Anyone use chrome? I don't use it much but sites with a lot of flashy stuff like the racing post seem faster.

It's not too different for me Matt, the only thing I can really see is it has privacy features and a few others too. I was just surprised that it hasn't crashed since I installed it. :)
Accelerators - which allow supported web applications to be invoked without explicitly navigating to them.
WebSlices - which allows portions of page to be subscribed to and monitored from a redesigned Favorites Bar.
InPrivate privacy features.
SmartScreen phishing filter.

I like that one too, I do use it occasionally. Overall though I just prefer Mozilla. I find it very quick, clean and secure.

I think I have an inbuilt aversion to using (or supporting in football's case) the so called 'big' name. I always tend to search for things on yahoo rather than google too!

The differences are what Scooby says, but I really have no idea what they do and will probably never use them.
The pages look different though, Better, and the text much clearer. Plus I now have my address bar back.

I haven't tried it yet but have heard good things about it (esp. speed).

I dumped Chrome early on as it had problems with a number of trading sites I use.

I installed Chrome yesterday and have to say that it is super fast (compared to IE). The layout takes a bit of getting used to and if (like me) you use the Menu Bar for most things, you may be disappointed that there simply isn't one! Once you have been using it (even for just a few hours), you will find the 'replacement' home page, which is made up of thumbnails of your most used sites, is very useful indeed.
If you download and install it, make sure your Java is up to date - anything less then Java 10 (current version is 13) won't work with Chrome. Also, even though it professes to importing all your settings and saved passwords from IE, this isn't strictly true - many sites use cookies to store your login details (including Win2Win) and you might find that you need to log back in to forums etc, Apart from that, it gets the thumbs up.

I've been using Chrome for a good few months now. It's very fast indeed. I found the racing post site virtually unusable with IE7 and that was the main reason for me trying Chrome. With it being a new browser they are still ironing out a few issues. Hotmail didn't work when I first started using it, that's now sorted. Befair Video still doesn't work though. The home page is a winner! I have yet to try IE8.
