Thought he would go this summer...it is good money I think at the end of the day. Be tough to replace him though. How much money have Madrid got??? :yikes:

I think they have 4 euros left. So I'm waiting on a bid for David Nugent :D

After what happened at the end of the season, you could see him leaving. It is really good money for him although I don't know who they will buy with it as they are all off to Spain by the look of it! I wonder if this makes Tevez stay much more likely now?

:D Should get him for about £15 million. :doh

We'll see if Fergie was really interested in Benzema at Lyon now, problem is the price will go up once they see how much Madrid have paid for Ronaldo.

Good player though Ronaldo is, I don't think he'll have half the success he has had playing for Man United.

I think that they played to suit Ronaldo, I'm not sure Madrid will! I suppose we'll see...

£80m though, wow you just couldn't turn that down could you! Not for anyone.

I think he'll do very well there Vegy, simply because the Spanish League is very open and teams let each other play rather than here where it's all about closing people down.

80 million is a fantastic price to get but how do they replace him? Especially when Madrid are buying up all the other options like Ribery and Villa! How many goals and assists have they lost and can they overcome that. History with Ferguson says that he usually finds a way to overcome any big player (Van Nilsterooy for example). Should be interesting to see who they look to sign.

Good buy. Glad he's off, if I'm honest. There was a time at United when he was exceptional, without the ego. Now he's less exceptional with an ego. So it figures, really.

They said Beckham was irreplaceable, and look what happened... plus nobody had heard of Ronaldo when he came to United!

Oh, and Ronaldo is 11 days younger than I am. It's a pretty scary thought.

How many goals and assists have they lost and can they overcome that. So true. Ronaldo may be a petulant mardy-**** but he usually delivers and often when you least expect it. So many United fans have said Ronaldo had a poor season last season but he was still second top scorer in the Premiership and scored plenty in other competitions, as well as setting up quite a few. He's a quality player but that is silly money and it would be silly to turn it down, especially when the player is somewhat unsettled and wantaway anyway.

Should be interesting to see who they look to sign. And how much they have to pay now it's public knowledge they have a bit of spare cash knocking about. They need a quality, proven midfielder who can set goals up for their strikers (who also now need to make up a goals shortfall).

Yes I think you're right Mat. They need to sign a couple of top quality midfielders. Whilst not exactly poor in midfield, they don't have any world class midfielders in the team. Scholes was of course, but is now really a bit part player with his best days behind him, likewise Giggs. Fletcher, Park, Carrick, Nani - I don't think so.

At least at Real, when he rolls around on the floor in a whirlwind of pretentious agony, he won't be the only one doing it.

£80m though... it's ridiculous. What is the world coming to when you can spend £80m on a man for football? Gordon Brown ain't even worth 80 quid.

Ronaldo's worth nearly as much as thw whole of Newcastle United! :D

Maybe he's undervalued after all then :D
