my laptop only has USB1 sockets, ie not high speed.

Anyone know if a usb2 external hard drive work ok???

But unless you are using it day-in, day-out, you won't notice that much difference (especially if you haven't used USB 2.0 before!)

How much space do you need? You can get cards now with GB's on.

I only need about 20-40gb's. Im a bit out of touch with computers these days, but as long as usb2 devices work with usb1 sockets its all good for me.

The one thing that does annoy me now is that the modern day usb sockets dont have enough power to recharge my mp3 player (lower voltage I think)...... bring back the oldschool lol!

Nope, never used usb2 before for file transfer, loading etc ..... I really dont know what im missing

There isn't an less power delivery on USB2.0 sockets, Barrel. Are you plugging it into a USB hub? If you plug it directly into a USB socket on the PC then it should charge your MP3 player.
