I got one of those letters from a so called tipster, phoned him earlier today and he asked me to put 1000 Pounds on a horse today to win.I have never met the guy, never heard of him, so you can guess what my reply was,now come on surely no one would be so foolish.

When i told him where to go and not to even bother telling me the name of the horse he did say what an opportunity i was missing.LOL

I will give him ten out of ten for trying but he wont be gambling with my cash.

I can put that much on some of my own selections but I wouldn't even put a £1 on a tip from a friend.

I got a letter from the legendary Colin Davey yesterday. I think most of you will know what you do with one of those, yes I wiped my :butthead: with it and sent it back in the prepaid envelope that came with it. :laugh

If the grand was a small % of your bank, why not?

But did you hear about the chap who did a £250 win treble on two winners from Goodwood last week, 25/s & 14/s? It's (£84,500) all going on Red Merlin in next week's Ebor and stands to take a cool one million from Ladbrokes.

So, basically, if you had a decent sized bank, you would be quite happy to chuck a grand at a horse given you through the post by some tipster you've never heard of. To quote Spike in his original post

I rest my case. :splapme

Sorry bud but the question read -

WOULD U PUT A GRAND ON A HORSE (WITHOUT THE ?)

Only a total numpty would put money on unproven sources -

But hey! How did the horse get on? And if it won would you reply different next time?

I know what the question read, but I also read the rest of Spike's post which is why I replied to your post in the way I did. As for replying any differently if the horse had won, nope, no way... as you yourself said above about unproven sources.

My wife had a one of those envelope stuffing jobs for a wee while to make a few bob extra and a big part of the business was mail outs for tipsters... of course I had to read the guff they were sending out... some of it was simply amazing - the 'make £5 million in a year' sort :yikes:. Sadly there are enough numpties out there believing that crap to pay for the printing of these glossy brochures, and keep the scammers in business. What gets me is the money back guarantee. Folk forget that all they'll get back, if anything at all, is what they paid for the service or system, not what they've lost in bets.

I'd guess that a lot of these mail shot guys use the oldest trick in the book and send Horse A to 100 people, Horse B to 100 people and so on (It was done on that TV show with the mind reader guy).

Obviously, 100 people get the winner and he sub divides those people for another mail shot. The people that have got the two winners in a row may very well be interested in the next tip and then they ask you to pay.
