So, boxing experts, does David Haye stand a chance tonight? He's conceding around a foot in height and nearly seven stone in weight to Valuev but is he the superior fighter?

Incidentally I heard his trainer (I think) on the radio this morning say that when Haye was a kid he just wanted to, in the nicest possible way, hit people in the ring. Surely with the height difference between him and Valuev that's probably one of the more likely areas for him to target isn't it? :laugh

As long as it doesn't go to points he has a chance. If it goes to points in Germany the home based fighter almost always wins, Evander Holyfield and John Ruiz have been victims of very questionable decision losses against Valuev in Germany. Haye is going to have to use his speed and tire Valuev out. It will be a big test of Haye's punching power, he was able to blast the cruiserweights out quickly but does he have the power to do that to a giant heavyweight who has never been stopped before?

Haye is going to struggle in every way here. I think he will lose this he can't win this fight on the outside and i don't think he has the power (at heavyweight) to knock Valuev out. If he gets on the inside he is gonna have 22 and a half stones leaning on him which is gonna exhaust him if it goes in to the championship rounds.

Haye's only way of winning is to get in and out as quickly as possible and take it on points but how is he going to get a decision in Germany ???? answer is he isn't. Evander Holyfield outpointed Valuev every round for me and still got robbed so a points victory is at best a long shot.

The fight will pan out with Haye trying to keep a high pace and take the early rounds on points but i see Valuev keeping tight, walking him down and tying Haye up whenever he gets the oportunity.

Everything is against Haye for me in this fight and the whole dynamic of this fight will be exhaustive for Haye and he will lose on points.

I assume it's on Sky Box Office but does anyone know when a free-to-air repeat will be shown?

It's normally a week after Mat isnt it, just looked at my DigiGuide and there is a slot at 10-30pm on Sat 14th, Sky Sports 1 with 'To be announced' on it. Could well be it.

I was just thinking to myself the other day what Mike Tyson would've done to either of these 20 years ago. I reckon both wouldn't have lasted 2 rounds but we will never know will we. I'm not sure Haye can take a punch at all in Heavyweight division, but if a totally shot Holyfield can run him close, Haye has surely got to trouble Valuev here. Haye may well get tired but one thing is for sure, so will Valuev if he is getting hit a fair amount of time. Because Haye is unproven in this division, it is impossible to know what is going to happen imho. In other words, I have no idea but if I was sticking Mat's fiver on, I would go for Haye. :ermmm

Evander Holyfields biggest asset was his granite chin which was tested many times against Valuev, Haye doesn't posses any where near the same resistance. Valuev will also know that he does not have to be in anyway "busy" to take this a negative performance should ensure he keeps the title.

i thought he just about deserved it as he threw the better punches but germany is infamous for dodgy results, no where near a classic but a very professional performance i thought.
