Hello all,

After an enforced break from gambling, due to reasons I wont bore you with, im back and so is my diary.

Im really starting afresh again and so that could be a good thing for the diary as any newbies who are just starting up or thinking about it can see how i get on.

I have enough money to start two banks of £200 to begin with, and as laying has always been my preferred method of gambling on the horses, Im going with one NH system - the NHPM and one Flat system - The layem.

I will record my results just like I used to in the old days and hope to maybe add more systems to my portfolio as time goes by.

I actually started Friday evening, so will add the diary entries for Friday and saturday as well as today once I have finished this post.

So here I am again starting the long road of building a bank up on a late Autumn Friday evening. My First lay is in the 7.20 at Wolves and I manage to overlay heavily on a gambled on horse that goes and wins :yikes:

The horse wins at 5/2 and I give odds of 8/1 :splapme

Not to worry it happens, just typical it was first bet back for me. I only have a couple of more lays in the last race and thankfully they both lose.

On both the layem on the NHPM systems I will record the increases/Decreases - daily, month to date, year to date and from start to present day, I will record my overlay as a percentage and I will record the overlay of the winning horses only (as these are the most important variable when laying to fixed stake)

First full day back on the laying treadmill - and first day with NHPM selections. Hit a winner on the NHPM to start off with a loss. Also make a loss on the layem not through overlaying unlike yesterday but through underlaying! Manage to catch a 11/1 winner even though I cut off at 10 points. I always used to preach this was good as if I can replicate it long term It means im giving good prices i guess my overlaying percentages will in time tell the story.

Was a pretty good day for me. There was one winner but I managed to signifigantly underlay it which meant a small profit rather than a small loss on the day.

A number of separate threads makes it easier for people to miss a day of your advice and thoughts whereas if it's all in one thread they can more easily catch up.

Nice easy day today there was no qualifiers in either system.

After yesterdays blank day, back to business with selections on both systems.

On the Layem system I again managed to catch a long priced winner with First Swallow at 17/2. The other horses lost but that ensured a losing day. Very early days but at least my overal overlay is running at around 5%. Unfortunatley on the winning horses it is higher but over time I would expect it to run at roughly the same percentage. My aim is to keep it under 15% and If I do Im confident of turning profit.

On the NHPM there was only two selections and they both lost. Again overall overlay so far is very low and this is something I will want to continue but wont get a true indication until a couple of hundred bets or so.

The first two races on the Flat layem produced 2 winners from 3 and garanteed a losing day compounded by me overlaying quite heavily on the winners. The evening session was better with three losers and no winners but down a few points.

On the NHPM there was only one selection and that lost.

gutted today layed partner on the layem system won at 4/1 i layed it at about 12 o clock at 10.50 and it ran at 12.30pm

Yeah, I know Marky, most of us got caught like that. I layed it a 7.00 but I did see it going at around 10.00.

Not a lot you can do about that mate, it was a gamble. Im sure you will get it happen the other way and underlay on a winner soon. Just try and stay as consistient as you can as regards what time you lay the horses as in whether its before racing begins or a certain time before each individual race. As you can see by my overlay figs I have been caught on the winning horses too the last few days.

hello marky, have just checked and i too only got fouur on the layem.im only able to get internet on my phone at moment and have not done proper srats, i did get five matched im sure, perhaps one became a non runner later on as i put all the flat lays on at one time about six pm.

A losing day to the end of the month which only started on the evening of the 20th for me.

Somehow managed to catch Head first today on the layem system which won at 16/1. Obviously with the cut off it was a signifigant underlay but still hurt. Layem finished the month 22 points down and the NHPM finshes the month 4.5 points up.

Im really pleased with my Overall overlay figures although obviouisly the data sample is still very small having only been for a period of 9 days. On the layem its 0% so on average im matching SP and on the NHPM its under 5%. The smaller those averages and the nearer my winning horses overlay gets to those figures the more profit i will make.

Was away over the weekend so have just updated all my stats now. A really good three days which has seen the layem bank now almost recover to its starting point after a hard first couple of weeks and the NHPM contiunue to grow.

Worst day I have since restarting, compounded by the fact I managed to catch a 14/1 shot. Four lays accross the two systems and the first three lays won at 14/1, 4/1 and 4/1. Amazingly for a fleeting moment it looked like the last one might win too which would have made a four timer at odds of 1008/1 !!! It came second though.

Upshot of all that is that both banks are virtually back to their starting point. Im not suprised at that as I know how quick things can change when the winners come. Won't have too many 25% strike rate days so will just go again tomorrow.

Bit of a tricky weekend really, with no Jump Racing due to the weather and a bad day on saturday on the flat layem due to three winners from 4. The two days either side were easy enough though with no winners form 3 lays and no winners from two lays. Overall down a dozen points over the weekend but that is quite a good result as i did well on the prices else it could have 15 points +.

Still actually in good profit for december on the layem and not too much down on the NHPM but it still smarts when you get the winners in little clums like I have had on Werdnesday and Saturday.

First the bad news - I managed to catch a 16/1 on the flat layem :yikes:

The good news? I doubt not one other person following the system will have caught that so i have took the pain for them! :cuck:laugh

Other than that every other horse lost that was layed. Still in profit for the month but those big winners take a big chunk out.

Bit of a shame that i caught a 10/1 winner on the flat layem to finish the year but still a good month on that system to make up ground from those tough last 10 days or so of November when I started the bank.

The NHPM finished the month breakeven at half a point up. The weather meant this system only averaged barely over a bet a day so no real suprise it stayed pretty stagnant.

Happy witheverything, Im doing well on the prices and im confidant I can grow these banks steadily in 2010. Will start a new thread for 2010 diary.
