View Full Version : EW is for Losers!!

A thread for EW selections & in the long-term hopefully to prove that we would have been better off just backing them to win but
I was going to put State Of Play up for this but feel the value has gone for EW purposes so I'm going to go for Snowy Morning
2.40 Newbury
On the basis that the going is spot on for him today, if the stats are going to get trashed why not follow the Irish & Willie Mullins in particular, two weeks ago his Tranquil Sea broke a 29 year barren spell in the Paddy Power & this one gets a 24lb pull for 10l's against Denman on their running in the 2007 RSA Chase at Cheltenham & was 9/2 favourite for the race when Denman won two years ago.
Victor Chandler are going 1st 5, could be closer than that I reckon!

I rarely back EW, if I do it is in large fields with the odds 20/1+

Each way is fine providng that the place and win oods both represent value respectively.

Forecasts between 20 & 33/s - I is trying to get 25/s on Betfair

So far then, 2 selections & one third @ 33/1 in the latter. Got two hopefuls for today:
I got 30/s on Betfair about ZIMBABWE(fr) 3.20 Exeter
I could if I bump into the right person later get a bit of a lowdown about this one but my intuitive hunch has already pre-empted the outcome of that, 'EW, they'll say.' So I've taken 29/s about
All Of Me(Ire) - 7.50 Wolverhampton NR

You're giving out Betfair prices but I thought these were e/w bets (I can't really tell from what you have written - I rarely can work out what your posts mean) so why are you giving win only prices? What about the place part of the bet?

Sorry to confuse you Mathare, these can be EW or Win bets, the general idea is to prove that in the long-term, with a little luck, rather than splitting a stake for EW you would have been better off just lumping it all on to Win -
I'm hoping to do better here than I am on the Daily Joint Venture - those aren't always races I would choose to bet in but I am EW profitable so far this month - another winner pretty soon though would make me profitable on the Win front and that is what I am trying to achieve (God willing or machine speed!) here.
Anyway, today:
3.50 Wolverhampton - Adage 16/s Ladbrokes & others
Godspot
24th December 2009, 03:13
Still only one placed from 5 selections that ran...
Looks like I'm having to go out for a special visit to my local Ladbrokes today, just hope it's still 100/1
Racing Demon 3.05 King George Kempton Saturday

These people have had some decent priced places of late - so watch this disappoint now I've tipped it!

I cannot agree that EW is for losers, EW is a great value bet as long as you know where to look, I fancy an EW bet in the 17:20 Kempton on Thursday, the horse is Faithful Ruler, currently 10/1, should I disregard this as it is a losers bet or should I take it on as a bet that is a value bet, think I will take it on. :)

This thread is to show that in the long-term you would have been better off by putting £2 Win on your EW fancies rather than £1 EW as invariably some of them will win.
While I'm here & so generous Ladbrokes @ 33/s
2.15 South - Tidal Force

Tee hee... I got bog @ 25/s on 365 last night about Fullanby
4.30 Ayr
They're 16/s now but there is still some 20/s about... But anyway,
Yeh! A winner at last.... I told everyone I saw on Friday to do that Christmas Carnival. The betting account is looking a lot healthier but a lowly 12/s doesn't give me the desired effect on the stats here - another, like that CC within the next few bets should do it but I is nowhere near as confident today & really I must be due a loser...

Wins - 2 - 12/s & 40/s

Lost - 20
Think that proves the theory but I'll have to sober up a bit to do any more maths than that for now:spinning

Oh well - I've just had to explain it to someone so:
26 bets @ £1 EW returns £84
26 bets @ £2 Win returns £108
So for the time-being, EW is for losers!

ONLY "EW TREBLE" betting style is good .. ..
single ew or double ew etc. is not logical .. ..
