For me the day was always going to hinge on the result of one race for the backs, another for the lays and one football match. The back bet lost (Roisin's Prince in the 1.45 at Leicester), the big race for the lays (5.45 Leicester) went my way but with Arsenal really missing van Persie and looking rather toothless in and around the Chelsea box while the Chelsea machine rumbles on the football hasn't gone my way leaving me down a big chunk.
Worried? Not really. For me that match was always going to have a heavy weighting on the day's results so what mattered was how everything else went. After all, that bet on the draw in the Arsenal v Chelsea game may be my biggest stake to date on that particular football system but I have buckets of evidence to show me that is money lent out that will be recovered, with interest, in time so it's a temporary loss as far as I am concerned. So while it was a significant loss for me in cash terms I know that in the next month or two I will win very big to more than offset that loss.
So take that Arsenal-Chelsea bet out of the equation and what sort of day has it been? Pretty poor on the other football bets I had I must admit. I meant to back Alvarado in the 1.25 but got distracted by the missus and layed it instead - and I didn't realise till the race was over! That losing Double Bet cost me in cash terms but otherwise the backs were fairly average really. The lays did well for me though, despite that mistake in the 1.25 and my False Favs having another near miss day. I have a couple of NFL bets outstanding that won't be settled till much later on but for now my figures are:
W2W Systems: 1 from 2, up 1.25pts
W2W Lays: 7 from 7 (for the 3rd day running), up 6.70pts
Other: 8 from 20, down 469.26pts
