Dean Ashton has had to retire aged 26

Shame his career was cut short could have had a brilliant career for club and for England if he had stayed injury free

Yeah a real shame Tony, he was just starting to look a real player when getting that injury.

It is unfortunate that injury can cut short such a promising career. He was a star in the making. My local team Hull City know all about injuries, with Jimmy Bullard, a great talent who was out for a year, came back for one month in November and won the premier player of the month now out again till February, and a decent bloke to boot.
I hope that Dean can move on to still play a part behind the scenes in football.

That's a real shame, he was a very good player. I remember seeing him for Crewe against Pompey from when he was 16 onwards until he moved on to Norwich. Looked the part even at that age.
