Now I haven't played poker for months, but with racing finishing only halfway through the day, and having eased up on a few things I used to do I've got a bit of spare time for playing.
Just played 3 SNG Double Ups (not played them before). Got knocked out of two with KK, and the last one with AA :ermmm .....all of them I got done on the river.
Ah well, only low stakes so usual muppets playing that call down anything with 23o, play a few days at those levels to get back in the swing of it. :thumbs

Unlucky! Best way to treat these is to sit back until the blinds are least 50/100. Then start to get aggressive quite quickly when you're in position (not necessarily always with good cards) but anything half decent (KT+, PPs) raise with in mid-late position, and you will often find that because these tournaments are 10 plays 5 "more than the normal number of people" will fold to a raise. If you're re-raised/shoved with a half decent hand such as KJ, AT, then fold. People will generally only play good hands at that stage of the tournament.
I'll dig out a thread for you with a little more information on...

Ta.
Won the last one after those 3. A bit annoying being chip leader and the play stops. I just need to step down a gear, and throw anything AA or less away :D

Good work. Yes it's annoying when you're chip leader and then the game stops, but a win's a win. Sometimes when there are a lot of idiots on the table the tournaments are over in about 20 minutes, so you can get paid out without doing anything. I played two hands last night before the game was over and I cashed. At other times you have to grind it out for 50 minutes and handle 300/600 blinds with six remaining.
With six remaining at a high level, you can usually push UTG with any good cards, provided you're stacked healthily enough to continue if you're called. Only really do this if you're in 1st or 2nd position out of six remaining. It often works though, since nobody wants to call you and risk going out. If you're re-raised you know they have Queens or better, most likely Kings or Aces.
In the mid-to-late stages I usually throw AJ-AK away if there's a raise before me. It just isn't worth flat calling or re-raising because you're likely to need to hit the flop where you're obviously only presented with a chance of 6 outs to make a pair. Sometimes I find I can re-raise all in with AK if there's too many limpers before me, to try to narrow the pot down, but I'll often fold it to be honest. I'd much rather play a pocket pair than call a push before me with any two high cards.
As I said you'll find that people in the later stages will push with good/premium hands only, unless short stacked (or idiotic).
I play $20 double ups, so all this is speaking at that level, but I imagine you're playing a bit higher.

First one of the day, lost the first 2 hands, and then won 2, just knicking the blinds now...7 left ......45th minute!!! Tick...tock...

If you steal the blinds you can often let them pass you and pay them. Just be patient and wait for a hand, don't try to be greedy.

Seemed to have gotten rid of the cobwebs won the last 4, and now the stats for this period is 5/5. Bang in another win and hold or improve on that SR and I'll soon have a holiday in Rhyl :yikes:
Just typical that I want a game now and Poker Stars are booting the servers and won't be finished until about midday :(
